The book sculpture designed by Tony Calzetta will be constructed of collage, origami structural forms and pop up elements. This three dimensional component will contain one of the tales, How God Talks in His Sleep, and will be supported by a slip case. Inside the slip case there will be six colourful folios. One of the folios will contain the introductory essay, a list of subscribers and the colophon. The remaining five will enclose the Other Tales of Woe and their visual elements. There will be three individual tales, a two-part tale and a trilogy. The visual elements for the folios are presently being developed using a variety of traditional printmaking techniques incorporating digitally printed texts. Felton Bookbinding of Georgetown, Ontario has prepared a dummy of the book design including an exterior clam box measuring 15.5 x 12 x 4.5 inches (40 x 30,5 x 11 cm) which will contain the entire book work. The launch of How God Talks in His Sleep and Other Tales of Woe is expected in the Spring of 2009. |
