People are strange
When you’re a stranger
Faces look ugly

These are my ‘misfits,’ the photographs that didn’t fit into any of the series* I was doing when I was shooting black and white film from 1990 to 2007. They didn’t fit, either because they were technically flawed or just too damn weird. But I liked them regardless and many of them stayed in my mind. This year I decided to go back, trawling through my negatives and rough prints, to reclaim these misfits and play at giving them new lives.
